first time i’ve picked up my watercolors in years. truth be told, i ran it through the photoshop stock color auto-correct. not too bad, although technically not true to pure. in any event, i thought i’d share.

31 DecA final salute to Tony Wu. He is leaving us here in Chi for Philly. For a proper send-off, I baked this meat cake. Oh lord was it delicious.
MENORAH MODERN
9 DecHere is my design for the Steelcase Menorah + Wreath competition. It’s clean lines, clever design and DIY inspired roots seemed to be a shoe-in as tops this year. I have to say, I think this is probably one of my best designs. This was produced with the following tools: chop-saw, drill, saws-all and a mitre box.
But alas, a piece bullshit NON-MENORAH eyecandy from SOM took first prize. Their entry was not a menorah, but rather an elaborate vacuumed-formed, CNC cut candelabra that could only be produced in SOM’s high-tech model shop. With total disregard for the Jewish faith and ceremony, they took it. Which leads me to believe that, as always, a total defiance of rules will always win a competition.
